The former synagogue in Neustadtgödens is a largely well-preserved synagogue in East Frisia. The Jewish community of Neustadtgödens had it built in 1852. The building also served as a house of worship for Jews from the neighboring Wilhelmshaven until 1902. Since the end of the 19th century, economic reasons have led to an increasing emigration of Jews from Neustadtgödens. During the time of National Socialism, the community shrank so much that the number of worshippers was no longer sufficient. On March 15, 1936, the community held a farewell service and closed the synagogue. Afterwards, the building was privatized and thus survived the November pogroms of 1938. Since July 10, 2015, the building has been reopened to the public as a memorial site for the former synagogue in Neustadtgödens.
