The Königstein Castle belongs to the Hessian town of Königstein im Taunus in the Hochtaunuskreis in Hesse and is its landmark. It is one of the largest castle ruins in Germany.
The ruins of the summit castle are located at 407 m above sea level on the western edge of the old town of Königstein. The northern and western slopes of the castle hill are wooded, and further to the west, there are undeveloped landscape areas.
