The Mineralogical Museum of Philipps-University in Marburg is an extensive collection of geological specimens that dates back to the end of the 18th century. Currently, the collection includes 60,000 minerals, 55,000 rock samples, 15,000 rough gemstones, and 150 meteorites. It houses Hesse's largest collection of minerals and rocks. The collection is primarily a teaching and research collection. In the meantime, the museum belongs to the Department of Geography.
