The synagogue in Hattingen was the sacred building of the Jewish community in Hattingen. It was located at Bahnhofstraße 8 and was destroyed during the Night of Broken Glass in 1938.
From about 1810, the Jewish community of Hattingen held its services in the Horstmann house at Große Weilstraße 13. As a replacement for this prayer space, the new synagogue in Bahnhofstraße was built in the early 1870s according to the plans of a Hattingen master mason. The ceremonial laying of the foundation stone on June 7, 1871, was also attended by the mayor of Hattingen and the Protestant pastor. The synagogue was consecrated on September 13, 1872.
