The Isenberg is a hill between Velbert-Nierenhof and Hattingen. The hill can be climbed via the Balkhauser Weg from the southwest (from Nierenhof, a distance of 1.3 km and an elevation gain of 50 meters) or from the northeast (from the valley of the river Ruhr, a distance of 1.2 km and an elevation gain of 90 meters). The true summit is higher and is marked by a castle ruin. There is also a climbing park at the top of the hill.
