Tecklenburg is a town in the western foothills of the Teutoburg Forest (also called Tecklenburger Land) and is located on a ridge. It was granted city rights in 1388. It has a medieval center worth seeing with many half-timbered houses. Next to it is a ruin of a castle with an open-air theatre. Just outside the center is the Bismarckturm from where you have a beautiful view of the surroundings.
