The Silz meadows of Darmstadt-Arheilgen are a nature reserve on the northern edge of the Darmstadt district.
The nature reserve is part of the "Messel hillside" and is approximately 65.64 hectares in size.
The Silz meadows of Darmstadt-Arheilgen were placed under nature protection to secure the development and promotion of mixed forest stands, the periodically wet to wet forest meadows, swamp areas, and natural water bodies.
The area is home to numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species.
