The stone originally stood at Schloßheck on the boundary between Niederprüm and Orlenbach. In 1915, it was excavated and moved by treasure hunters. In 1933, it was relocated to its current position on Bahnhofstraße opposite the city cemetery of Prüm as a memorial stone.
The menhir has a total height of 340 cm, of which 240 cm protrude from the ground; its width is 90 cm and its depth is 85 cm. No information is available on the material. The menhir is approximately pillar-shaped and tapers to a point; its shape becomes irregular about halfway up. One side is partially smoothed.
