Around the birth of Christ, the Romans tried to conquer Germania. During this time, Roman legions marched along the Lippe and set up marching camps in Holsterhausen.
The first traces were discovered in the 20/30s of the last century. During the largest excavation in the district of Kreskenhof from 2000 to 2002, about 6000 finds were registered. The Roman era is now commemorated by a history station, which was designed by students of the Gymnasium Petrinum. It was built on the site of one of the more than ten Roman marching camps on Holsterhausen soil, which have been documented since 1927.
