Speichrow is a district of the municipality of Schwielochsee in the Dahme-Spreewald district. Until it merged with five other municipalities to form the new municipality of Schwielochsee in 2003, Speichrow was an independent municipality. In the early modern period, it along with Niewisch and Pieskow was one of the three so-called "water villages".
Speichrow is located about 8.5 km southwest of Friedland, just under 6 km west of Lieberose, and around 25 km northeast of Lübben. The district includes the 1106 ha large Schwielochsee. It borders Leißnitz to the north, Niewisch and Pieskow to the east, Doberburg to the east and southeast, Jessern to the south, Goyatz to the southwest, and Ressen-Zaue and Trebatsch to the west. The town is accessible via the L 441, which branches off from the B 168 at the Wuggelmühle, heading towards Möllen, Niewisch, Pieskow, and Speichrow, and continues past Jessern towards Goyatz, where it ends at the B 320.
