Skassa is a district of the large district town of Großenhain in the district of Meißen in Saxony, with currently 253 inhabitants. Skassa was first mentioned in documents in 1190 as Zcassowe, in 1205 as Schassowe, and in 1261 as Scassowe, in 1350 as castrum Sc[h]assowe, and in 1711 as Sckassa.
Großenhain is located in the northern district of Meißen directly at the intersection of the former Via Regia and the former Saxon Salt Road on the Große Röder, with the district of Skassa about 2 km west of the center of Großenhain at the bend of the river to the north.
