The nature reserve Altmain and sandy dry grassland near Limbach is located in the district of Haßberge in Lower Franconia.
The area, which covers 273.5 hectares and is designated as NSG-00408.01, was placed under protection in 1992 and extends on both sides of the Main River between Sand am Main in the southwest and Limbach, a district of the town of Eltmann, in the southeast. The A 70 runs to the south of the area and the B 26 to the northeast.
