Kleintabarz is the northern outskirts of the municipality of Bad Tabarz in the district of Gotha in Thuringia. The place owes its origin to the hydropower of the stream Laucha. Kleintabarz is bordered to the east by the federal highway B88, and the industrial area Am Jagdhaus separates the settlement, which consists of Langenhainer Straße and Friedhofsweg, from the town center of Tabarz, located 500 m to the south. The geographical elevation of the place is 370 m above sea level.
A mercy cross at the boundary to Langenhain is the oldest known historical evidence of Kleintabarz. Around the lower mill and a ducal hunting lodge belonging to the armory of Tenneberg Castle near Waltershausen, the district Klein Tabarz, first mentioned in 1614, developed. With the incorporation of the mills, factories, and the poor house located there in 1925, the union of Klein-Tabarz and Groß-Tabarz into the town of Tabarz was completed.
