The community lies south of the main town of Hanstedt at the junction of the L 216 state road and the L 213.
Nindorf is a clustered village. The core of the village is formed by farms under mighty oaks and is still partly surrounded by boulder walls. The landscape consists of heath and wooded hills, the Toppenstedt Forest and the Garlstorf Forest, the Aue Valley and the Hanstedt Mountains.
Nindorf was first mentioned in a document in 1162. It is located on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath, between the Schmale Aue and the Garlstorfer Walde. It is one of the smallest villages in the joint municipality of Hanstedt, it is part of the parish of Egestorf.
