The Black Lighthouse Warfleth is a former lighthouse on the Lower Weser. It is located on the Warflether Sand peninsula, named after Warfleth, a district of Berne in the Wesermarsch district. The old Lemwerder upper light is also known as the "Black Lighthouse".
The 11.7 m high steel truss tower was designed by Heinrich Tillmann and built in 1897 on the Bremen volcano. It was erected as part of the Weser correction in Farge, i.e. on the Bremen side of the Weser, and went into operation on 31 August 1898 as a cross-mark light with a gas-powered lantern by Julius Pintsch. The optics consisted of a 6th order Fresnel lens.
