The forest hill is a mountain range in the south of the city of Rheine. It stretches from the Ems in a westerly direction and merges into the Thieberg. At the highest point of the forest hill is the elevated drinking water tank of the city of Rheine.
Disused quarries are part of the Waldhügel nature reserve. The area extends south of the core town of Rheine and south of Dorenkamp, a district of Rheine. To the west runs the B 70, to the east runs the B 481 and flows the Ems.
