De Waldheuvel is een heuvelrug in het zuiden van de stad Rheine. Hij strekt zich uit van de Ems in westelijke richting en gaat over in de Thieberg. Op het hoogste punt van de Waldheuvel bevindt zich het drinkwaterreservoir van de stad Rheine.
Inactieve steengroeves maken deel uit van het natuurgebied Waldheuvel. Het gebied strekt zich uit ten zuiden van het stadscentrum van Rheine en ten zuiden van Dorenkamp, een stadsdeel van Rheine. Westelijk loopt de B 70, oostelijk loopt de B 481 en stroomt de Ems.
