Rütenbrock is a village in the German municipality of Haren in the Landkreis Emsland. The village is located directly on the Dutch border near Ter Apel. Due to the lower housing prices in Germany, numerous Dutch people have settled in the village.
Rütenbrock originated as a peat colony in the eighteenth century. The development of the area became possible after the Republic and the Diocese of Münster delineated the border on the left Eemshore in 1764. The first inhabitants who settled in the area were buckwheat farmers.
