The village of Doveren is located in the town of Hückelhoven in the Heinsberg district, in the far west of North Rhine-Westphalia, on the left bank of the Lower Rhine and not far from the border with the Netherlands. In addition to the actual village center, which was mostly referred to by the locals as "het Dörp," the two districts of Doverhahn and Doverheide also belong to this very old community, which was strongly agrarian well into the period after World War II.
