The route starts near the hiking car park of the Breinigerberg (between the villages of Breinigerberg and Vicht). This is not far from Aachen and can be reached relatively quickly from the Netherlands, for example. And from here you immediately start to wonderful gravel roads through the northern part of the Eifel, into the Hürtgen Forest and along the Kall. 62% of the route consists mainly of good gravel roads.

It immediately goes over a good and wide gravel road through wooded area, but it does not get steep. The subsequent descent is on a paved road and takes you to Zweifall. Due to the flood in July 2021, several bridges in and around Zweifall were torn away and work is still underway to restore them. The route therefore follows asphalt roads directly around Zweifall. Outside of Zweifall there is again a good gravel road through wooded area, but now there is a lot of climbing: 5 km on gravel roads to the top of the Jägerhaus. Sometimes it gets steeper (up to 10%).

You continue on an asphalt road closed to car traffic and turn into gravel roads. Only at Lammersdorf do you get back on paved roads. You follow the cycle path over the Vennbahn for a while and then, in good condition, you dive into the Paustenbachtal on farm roads (these are roads that are closed to car traffic with the exception of agricultural traffic). Then it goes on to the upper valley of the Kall. Finally, it goes on gravel roads through the Kalldal, partly on good gravel roads, partly on a gravel road of rougher character (rockier). You will have to cross the busy B266 and then descend further into the Kalldal on a good asphalt road that serves as a service road for the maintenance of the reservoir in the Kall. But before you reach the dam, you swerve on gravel roads to circle the reservoir.

After passing the reservoir, you will continue down into the Kalldal via an excellent gravel road. You cross the L160 for a while and continue the descent through the Kalldal on gravel roads, which now have less fine gravel (Sistivier gravel). You will reach the idyllically situated Simonskall and after passing this town, you will switch back to gravel roads. Finally, you will arrive at the L218 and leave it quickly to leave the Kalldal. You now cycle upstream on gravel roads through the valley of the Tiefenbach and the Bösselbach. After the long climb on gravel roads, you pass the village of Vossenack on asphalt and then it goes down an asphalt road into the valley of the Wehebach, you also have to go through a gate (don't forget to close!). After this gate, the asphalt gets worse. In the valley you climb steeply (up to 16%) away from the stream valley over good asphalt, but when the climb subsides, the asphalt also becomes less (well said bad: the asphalt seems to have completely crumbled here). Finally, the road turns into gravel and follow the good gravel roads for a distance of 10 km until you reach the dam of the Wehebach dam. The route makes a trip to the dam itself.

You descend the dam over asphalt, but quickly switch back to gravel road to climb through the Gressenich forest on a very quiet asphalt road at Schevenhütte. At the top, you get off on gravel roads. Finally, you land above Vicht and descend steeply along an asphalt road to Vicht. Shortly after Vicht you come to the main roads, which are very busy here. The last part is a climb to the Breinigerberg hiking car park, not via the main road, but via a farm road (quite steep) that turns into a gravel road (in the less steep part and at the top of the climb).
