You leave Freudenstadt very quickly on streets and main roads that are not crowded. Occasionally it is a small increase to 12%. After Obermusbach you enter the forest area and the roads become very quiet in terms of traffic. It goes up and down a bit, but never steeply. The route now leads over the Nagold Valley. After you have passed Edelweiler, you descend steeply into the valley of the Zinsbach and also descend steeply before you enter the very beautiful Zinsbachtal via a very quiet road. The road follows the Zinsbach downstream, i.e. descending.
At the end of the Zinsbach valley, you enter the Nagold valley and quickly reach Altensteig, which is built against a ridge. You will climb the ridge and pass the historic core of Altensteig, which is worth a visit! Quite quiet side roads finally lead to Beuren, where you descend steeply (12%) into the Nagold valley. You follow the main road through the Nagold Valley, which can be busier with motorcycles on beautiful Sundays and holidays.
You pass the Nagold Dam, you can take the paved road (closed to car traffic) on the other side of the lake, but in good weather there can be many hikers here. After passing the reservoir, it goes really uphill again to Besenfeld. You follow the quiet main road, you could also take a steeper side road at Schorrental. After the passage of Besenfeld you have to follow a main road for half a kilometer and then it goes steeply downhill on a wide road into the valley of the Murg.
At the exit, turn left to enter the Murg Valley via side roads. You cross the Murg over a covered wooden bridge and then follow the Murg Valley Cycle Path to Baiersbronn
In Baiersbronn you climb steeply (up to 15%) out of the Murg valley to cycle over the Murg into the middle valley. You descend again to the Murg and then the ascent to Kniebis begins on a road closed to car traffic (with the exception of permit holders, I met 3 cars on the ascent on a weekday in August). Once at the top, you make a short detour to finally reach the beautiful Ellbachseeblick viewpoint via a 100-metre-long gravel road. Then it's back on paved roads and down to the village of Kniebis. A well-paved dirt road, which is closed to car traffic, leads to the rather quiet main road that connects Zwieselberg with Freudenstadt. After a few kilometers, it goes steeply on a car-free road to Freudenstadt to the end of the route (which corresponds to the Waldhotel Louise).
