Monschau along the Ruhr to the Ruhrsee,

Route taken during a 3-day bike trip in Monschau, May 2023. On day 3 of the cycling holiday, we parked in the middle at the Austraße parking lot (paid parking), right by the Rur, where the ride begins. The ride runs beautifully along the winding Rur on a gravel path until Rursee in Einruhr, then it goes uphill to Rurberg (some lovely terraces by the Rursee). The return path is unpaved in places and quite steep uphill, so be careful. Nearly all roads are car-free, then back up to the Vennbahn and diving into Monschau.

Alternatively, you can park at the Konzen train station, north of Monschau, then you are directly at the Vennbahn, or at the Lammersdorf parking station. Then it's downhill to Monschau.
