Many cyclists rave about the landscape, nature, and tranquility after a tour on the Unstrut Cycle Path. The family-friendly river cycle path with small differences in altitude accompanies the Unstrut river on its almost 200 km long course from its source in Eichsfeld near Kefferhausen to its confluence with the Saale river near Naumburg, mostly close to the river. The long-distance cycle path leads through the Thuringian heartland, the Kyffhäuser region, and the southern part of Saxony-Anhalt with the wine region Saale-Unstrut.

Description

The Unstrut Cycle Path experience begins at the easily accessible and well-developed source on the outskirts of Kefferhausen. Shortly after starting the tour, an impressive railway bridge is crossed. Behind Dachrieden, the path leads through the romantic Reisers Valley. Mühlhausen attracts with its half-timbered buildings and a walkable city wall. Following the course of the Unstrut and almost always having the river in sight, you will reach Bad Langensalza, a spa and rose town, with the Friederikenschlösschen. In addition to visiting the Japanese Garden or relaxing in the Friederiken Therme with a salt content of 3-5%, a detour to the Tree Canopy Walkway in the Hainich National Park is worthwhile.
