Description by the author

This can only be found in the Rems Valley: pleasure meets a place of growth and prosperity. The second of three beautiful hikes in the Rems Valley for nature, pleasure and wine lovers. The rule here is: don't hurry, take a break!

Attention: This tour is a suggested hike created by the RAUS geht's magazine published by the Waiblingen newspaper publisher and is not explicitly signposted.

Between Strümpfelbach, Schnait and Aichelberg, the route leads from Weinstadt high up to Karlstein and the Burg estate. The hike combines the best views with a visit to two wineries: the Mannschreck winery in idyllic Strümpfelbach and the Wissmann-Stilz winery in Schnait. You should be a good walker and not shy away from ascents. You will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the Rems Valley in all directions.

A special feature of the Mannschreck wine-growing area in the Strümpfelbach valley - the slopes are steep and face south-west. In summer the sun beats down, in fall the fog remains in the valley. In addition, the heat-retaining Keuper soil. The Altenberg has a gradient of up to 50% and is one of the top sites. You can taste this in the wines.

The path to the Wissmann/Stilz winery leads up via Karlstein or Landgut Burg, depending on whether you take the hike "left or right", and down to Schnait. "Living and working in and with nature" is Hermann Stilz's motto. Among other things, this means careful cultivation, natural fertilizers, resistant grapes that do not need to be sprayed and, last but not least, a love of the place. All the vineyards are located in and around Schnait, the "westernmost" between Beutelsbach and Schnait and the "easternmost" opposite the horse farm in the direction of Baach. The Burg estate is idyllically situated in a clearing and its cuisine is known far beyond the Rems Valley.
