Etappe 2: Ingelfingen - Bretzfeld | Württemberger Weinradweg

The 2nd stage of the Württemberger Weinradweg takes you from Ingelfingen to Bretzfeld. Enjoy the Hohenlohe wine landscape and the wine at wineries, wine bars and wine taverns.

One of Ingelfingen's landmarks is the Ingelfinger Fass, which nestles in the vineyards. It is the second largest wooden barrel in Europe with a self-supporting barrel construction and houses a small wine museum. Wine samples from the Weinsüden Vinothek Ingelfinger Fass can be tasted here on request.

You cycle along the Kocher river through the romantic old towns of Niedernhall, Forchtenberg and Sindringen. The wine grows here on mineral-rich, very permeable shell limestone, which forces the vines to root deeply and also shapes the landscape with stone bars and vineyard walls. The route leads past the Limes World Heritage Site to Zweiflingen, then on via Neuenstein.

The wine village of Pfedelbach in the south is well worth a stop. Winegrowing has characterized Pfedelbach for many generations, as it has in the destination of the second stage, the winegrowing community of Bretzfeld. Viticulture has a long tradition in the districts of this wine-growing village. The wines grow on Keuper in this area.
