Bike Arena Sauerland - City-Country-River

After a cozy start, the first ascent awaits up to Kallenhardt, past the limestone quarry. Via Warstein, the location of the well-known brewery of the same name, we reach Hirschberg and its historic city center after a longer climb.
After a long descent, we leave the district of Soest towards Arnsberg. Here we cross the Ruhr river several times. The Arnsberg forest is steadily ascended all the way to Lake Möhnesee. From there, it is absolutely flat first along the south bank and then along the west bank to Günne. Here we encounter the Haarstrang, which separates the Sauerland from the Soester Börde. A long and steady descent with a wide view over the Börde to Soest awaits us.
We leave Soest in a northwesterly direction towards Bad Sassendorf, a well-known spa town, and ride parallel to Federal Highway 1, which also follows the Hellweg, a historic trade route. Only a few meters of altitude await us in the next kilometers. After crossing the A44, the tour ascends very slightly but steadily up to Rüthen, the starting point.
