Download information about the tour: From Hösseringen, follow the course of the Hardau until it flows into the Gerdau, which forms the Ilmenau after its confluence with the Stederau. The scenic route via Suderburg (St. Remigius Church) and Holdenstedt (Holdenstedt Castle) partly leads through narrow forest paths and includes a protected cobblestone passage. Travelers with trailers, heavy luggage, or children's bikes are better off using the main route of the Ilmenau cycle path from Bad Bodenteich to Uelzen. However, those who can handle a few bumps will be rewarded with a very beautiful and culturally interesting route, which also offers a lot for families with older children (who can ride a bike safely). It is recommended to arrive at the starting point, the museum village of Hösseringen, a day earlier, as there is so much to discover here! Excursions to the nearby Landtagsplatz and the forest history trail "Schooten" should not be missed. A few kilometers after the start, the Hardausee invites you to swim and pedal boat. The "Rieselwiese", an irrigation technique invented in Suderburg, is exciting. Child-friendly experiment stations explain the process. Past the Regwege Church St. Remigius with its mighty fieldstone tower (a relic of the former Suder Castle), the path leads to Holxen. Here, the old water mill is a beautiful photo motif. The route continues over field and farm tracks to reach Hodenstedt Castle and the cycle path chapel "St. Nikolaus". The small village of Borne offers a nice rest area at the edge of the village before heading towards Niendorf on virtually car-free farm tracks and then through a beautiful forest area towards Uelzen.
