During this tour, it should be possible for cyclists interested in industrial history to get to know the industrial history in the north of the city of Salzgitter through various stops. The tour is intended as a circular route with a southern extension. Here, only the short route without extension is described! The potash mines on the outskirts of the town of Salzgitter-Thiede were not taken into account for reasons of route planning. Also, the old train stations of the Braunschweig-Landes-Eisenbahn (BLE), which are passed on the tour (Immendorf, Barum, and Heerte), were important for the regional development, but they are not stops on this tour. Industrial history includes not only the technical history but also the unfortunately "dark era of National Socialism," during which the industrial development of this area mainly took place.
