State Forest Route

The 10 km long tour starts in Heide on the "Alte Siegburger Straße" heading south (parallel to Zeithstraße). Approximately 2/3 of the route leads over wide paths, which are easy to ride except for short sections. They lead through the state forest along numerous fish ponds, where the occasional heron lurks for prey. From here, the monks on the Siegburger Michelsberg were supplied with fish during Lent until the 19th century.

After a short distance along the Lohmarer buildings, there is an equestrian facility on the left. Our path continues almost straight ahead and changes in its nature: it becomes sandier, narrower, and in some parts noticeably steeper. Even if the "less ambitious" cyclist without a mountain bike has to push a bit, the path is still attractive. After the short ascent, you will be rewarded with an easier route to ride. The path leads with a gentle incline towards Heide, where our circular route ends.
