Zabel-Fernroute

Due to its diverse landscape and the constant change between challenging cycling routes and quieter paths, the Hellweg region was a preferred training area for the former professional cyclist. The route from Wickede (Ruhr) to Geseke is suitable for both performance-oriented cyclists and leisure cyclists and hikers.
After Wickede (Ruhr), the Haarstrang is initially crossed. At the summit of the ridge, cyclists are offered a magnificent view of the Hellweg Valley to the north and the Münsterland Bay.
The route runs parallel to the historic Hellweg (today's B 1) via charming, varied scenic side roads. In the further course, the route passes through the cities of Werl, Soest, Bad Sassendorf, Erwitte, and Geseke, which invite visitors to stroll through their historic old town centers. The journey between the cities is enriched by picturesque Hellweg villages.
