Description by the author

This special circular route was created in 2024 to mark the 50th anniversary of the town of Mössingen and the first documented mention of Mössingen 1,250 years ago. It leads through all the sub-districts and is intended to strengthen their connection with each other, while at the same time making local features visible.

Starting from the Mössinger Mitte, this special circular route is best begun on Mössingen's market square. If you like, you can stock up on a snack for the road in the surrounding stores and off you go!

From the market square, we walk north via Bachgasse and Karrengasse to the "Mühlegärtle" park, which we walk through up the Steinlach to Falltorstraße.

Extensive renovation work will continue to take place in Mühlegärtle until summer 2024. If the park cannot be used for this reason, we cross the Steinlach on the footbridge and follow the Bädergasse on the opposite side of the Steinlach over the Blue Bridge to Falltorstraße.

Now follow Falltorstraße uphill for a short distance until you reach the "Haus an der Steinlach" retirement home. Here we turn right onto the "Dr. Gulde-Fußweg", which takes us directly along the Steinlach to the old town hall and Brunnenstraße.

We continue straight ahead to the Spittelsteg (you can see the old plaster mill on the right), cross the Steinlach there and walk past the fountain up Spitalgasse.

At the traffic lights, cross the street "Auf der Lehr" and take the footpath on the left past the old merchant's house into Höfgasse.

Following this street, we soon reach Freibadstraße and then turn right past the outdoor pool to Firstwaldstraße with the motorhome parking area.

Here we turn left (according to the access route to the Firstwaldrunde) and walk slightly uphill to the northeast under the Nordring until we reach a fork in the path. There we walk (briefly following the Firstwaldrunde) uphill to the right and past the water tank. Where the Firstwaldrunde separates from the Albvereinsweg, we now follow the blue Albvereinsraute up to the Schlossbuckel with its beautiful view of Öschingen and benches to rest on.

On the tarred path, we now cross the plateau of the Firstberg, past the Hauhäusle and a little later, the marked access route of the Firstwaldrunde branches off to the right towards Öschingen. Follow it on a path down into the Öschenbach valley

After crossing Reutlinger Straße at the former Adler inn, we continue along Öschinger Obergasse. Past magnificent half-timbered houses and the Klaus Herzer woodcut museum in the old Schultheißenhaus, we come to Bolbergstraße.

Follow it uphill, past St. Martin's Church to the cemetery.

Crossing the Meisenbühlring, we continue uphill following the Albverein sign "blaue Astgabel" (blue branch fork) and on a stony path through the Falltorbachklinge up to the Filsenberg.

With the same signposts, the trail continues past the Meisenbühl and the hiking parking lot across rough grassland to the Seebachhalde. Shortly after re-entering the forest, a blue Albverein rhombus points the way to the Lauberschlucht. We follow this path downhill into the Seebachtal.

With the same signposts, we briefly turn left, crossing the Seebach and then below the Kirchkopf through the forest to the Talheimer Bergkirche.

From here, we follow the Albsteig HW1 (red triangle) down Kirchstraße and via Silcherstraße to Steinlachstraße. We follow this road up to Kreuzstraße and on to Jahnhstraße, which we follow to the right until we reach "Scheuerle" street. Turn left there and continue to Andeckallee.

Now turn left again for a short distance along Andeckallee to the new barefoot path. Continue along the southern side of the stream (like HW1) to the first crossroads. Turn right onto this, cross the Andeckallee again and continue straight ahead, slightly uphill, until after about 100 m a path branches off to the left across the Dinkelbach stream, which we follow up to a tarred field path, onto which we turn right. This leads us to the Farrenbergweg (Farrenberg access road).

After a short stretch of Farrenbergweg, a somewhat inconspicuous grass path branches off to the left, which we follow for a short distance until it meets the Dreifürstensteig.

From now on, our route is better marked again. It follows the premium hiking trail to the Dreifürstenstein. Past the Himmelsschaukel (sky swing), we reach the Hirschkopf with the largest landslide in the country with a magnificent view of the valley through the forest. The Traufweg (now also HW1 again) leads past it to the famous "Alb-Balkon" Dreifürstenstein with a refuge and barbecue area.

After a well-earned panoramic break, we descend along the Dreifürstensteig trail to the fork at Heuberg. There we follow the blue rhombus to the Belsener Aussichtspunkt Alter Morgen.

Following the tarred path downhill there, we follow the OGV nature trail to a fork in the path with a lime tree and bench in the middle. Our route branches off to the left here

.

We head west through the former Celtic square enclosure into the Geißbach valley and continue through the forest into the Hansenbach valley. Follow the Spitzwaldweg until it joins the Buckensteigweg and then follow this to the right. In the orchards, the gravel path meets a tarmac field path. Here we turn left into Weitloch.

We soon reach the Weitloch forest and stay on the well-maintained, gravel main path, which winds its way through the forest.

On reaching the railroad embankment, turn left along the embankment along this until you reach a crossroads. Now go under the railroad bridge and continue left at the next crossroads in the direction of Bodelshausen.

After the underpass under the B27, turn left again until you reach the left again until you reach Tübinger Straße (Bodelshausen through road). Now right and parallel to the Butzensee lake (the benches there invite you to invite you to take a break). The Butzensee is a special feature of the landscape and a valuable biotope whose reed belt provides nesting opportunities for endangered bird species. nesting opportunities. Swimming is therefore prohibited here.

The route runs a short distance along the road in the direction of Bodelshausen. At the yellow signpost of the Swabian Albverein (SAV), follow the blue diamond to the right towards Bad Sebastiansweiler through the Weiherhäule.

Immediately after crossing the Lindenhof, our path branches off to the right again. A paved path marked with a blue plus leads with beautiful panoramic views (Roßberg, Bergrutsch, Farrenberg, Dreifürstenstein, Hohenzollern....) further on. In the forest, the route marked with the blue plus branches off to the left and turns from a tarred to a gravel path. It is only 1 km to Bad Sebastiansweiler via the Haslachweg.

Past the forest kindergarten and through a beautiful avenue of lime trees with many red benches, we reach the Kurpark of Bad Sebastiansweiler via a grass path.

The smallest suburb of Mössingen, Bad Sebastiansweiler, owes its existence to the existence to the healing sulphur springs, whose mineral water has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. However, it is not only this special healing water makes Bad Sebastiansweiler an attractive place for guests. guests.

It is also the attractive offers in and around the spa gardens that interesting for young and old alike. However, there are currently still some restrictions due to ongoing construction work. The beautifully designed barefoot and sensory path appeals to all five senses. all five senses. An additional panoramic active trail is planned for 2024 be realized. In addition, the well-tended spa gardens with their seldom seen trees (e.g. a sequoia tree), many benches, a playground as well as a bowling green and a mini golf course. The barbecue area right next to the playground can be used by prior arrangement

.

The Café Atrium in the foyer of the clinic offers the opportunity to stop for coffee and cake. The chapel now houses is now the studio of the well-known artist Andreas Felger. Several of his artworks also adorn the spa gardens.

The SAV "blue line" marker leads from Bad Sebastiansweiler through the pedestrian underpass of the B27, across the hiking parking lot and to Sebastiansweiler Straße.

On the accompanying path opposite, we reach the famous sulphur springs. A signpost leads to the drinking pavilion and herb garden. Benches invite you to take a break

.

We then cross Sebastiansweiler Straße and follow Butzenbadstraße through the Bästenhardt district. Opposite the junction with Danziger Straße and before the Don Boso district house, a footpath branches off to the right. We follow it uphill through the "Hasendeich" green area, Keltenstraße and Birkenstraße to Albblickstraße.

Now turn right downhill on Albblicksstraße and head south under the railroad line. After crossing Mössinger Straße, continue to Luppachstraße and Brühlstraße and up Barbelsenstraße through the old village to the junction of the footpath up to Belsener Kirchle.

North of the church, we cross the cemetery to the east exit and from there to the path accompanying the Canton Saint-Julien avenue. Follow it to the right towards Mössingen. We can cross the road safely at the pedestrian crossing and reach the large Mössingen school center.

Past the Jahnhallen and the Quenstedt-Gymnasium, a footpath leads to Breitestraße. Turn right here and after a short time you are back in the center of Mössingen and thus at the starting point of this special hike!
