Description by the author

From Schwarzenfeld in the district of Schwandorf, the cycle path leads upstream through the charming landscape of the Upper Palatinate Forest. Shortly before the Upper Palatinate Craft Museum in Hillstett, you reach the district of Cham in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park. On the former railroad line, the trail follows the Schwarzach upstream to Rötz, passing between imposing rocky gorges. At the information pavilion, you cross the Schwarzachtal bridge, where it then runs south of the town through the floodplain via Gmünd to Steegen. Past quiet old waters to Schönthal in the direction of Thuraumühle. At Thurau, the Schwarzach and the power plant canal of the former Thurau mill are crossed. Finally, the cyclist reaches Kritzenast. Here, the Schwarzachtal cycle path splits into a loop on the Upper Palatinate and Bohemian sides, which together form a circular route. In a north-easterly direction, the cycle path follows the Bohemian Schwarzach towards Waldmünchen via the Perlsee lake, which promises a much-desired cool-down on hot days. From here it is not far to the Höll border crossing. On the Czech side, the first stop is the village of Nemanice/Wassersuppen. The Schwarzach Valley Cycle Route then winds its way through the original Schwarzach Valley to Zavíst/Neid, where the Bohemian Schwarzach has its source to the south. The route continues to Rybník/Weiher, along the Radbouza river to Smolov (municipality of Weißensulz/Bělá nad Radbuzou). You soon reach the former village of Ples/ Plöß via the hilly and wooded Bohemian border area. Now it is only 1.5 km to the border. The tour continues to the famous Marian pilgrimage site of Stadlern. In the border village of Waldhäuser, the route climbs up to the source of the Bavarian Schwarzach. Between Charlottenthal and Breitenried, the cycle route leaves the district of Schwandorf and reaches the district of Cham. After the village of Treffelstein, you reach the Silbersee lake. Via Witzelsmühle and Biberbach, the tour leads to the village of Kritzenast, where the confluence of the Bavarian and Bohemian Schwarzach rivers is located.
