Description by the author

We start the hike in Marlesreuth at the hiking sign at Raiffeisenplatz and walk along the road towards Selbitz until we reach the last house on the left-hand side of the road. There, we turn left onto a field path and walk straight ahead along this natural path until we reach the "Kapfigten Stein" in the field on the left, which is the subject of a legend. We continue straight ahead along the legend trail, then along the edge of the forest and to the left until we reach a road. We follow it to the right and reach a forest road after a small section of forest. We follow the road in the forest for around 700 m together with the legend trail to the left to the Garlesfelsen viewpoint (seating area) along the way.

It is worth taking a short break here to enjoy the beautiful view from the rest area and read the legend. We continue along the forest path, but soon turn left and walk downhill on a path past the single Garles into the idyllic, narrow valley of the Garlesbach stream. The legend trail leaves us here. Our hiking trail leads us sharply to the right downhill, past well-kept ponds and along a field path to a road coming from Naila on the left. We turn left and follow the path through the open fields until just before the B 173. Then we turn left slightly uphill, parallel to the main road, to the end of the district road coming from Marlesreuth. We cross under the main road to the right and follow Frankenwaldstraße downhill to the second major road junction. There we turn left, walk to Hofer Straße and with it to the central parking lot.

If we turn right, we walk straight ahead along Talstraße to the Naila train station. We could also have started the circular walk from here. We walk back along the detour path from the station, cross the traffic lights and continue straight ahead along Kronacherstraße and Schützenstraße until we come to Frankenweg in the industrial area.

We turn right, soon turn left again and walk through the industrial area after the end of the town on a beautiful dirt track up to the heights by the forest, where we have an impressive view of Naila and the surrounding area. On a near-natural path, we come through thinned forest stands to Ober-Erbsbühl (view of the Döbraberg) and reach Pechreuth with the Rückner game reserve on the road, partly also on parallel forest paths.

Now follow the cul-de-sac along the entire length of the game reserve, cross the Lippertsgrün-Bobengrün road (200 m to the right: Fränza restaurant) and follow the cul-de-sac through part of the scattered settlement of Froschbach (part of Naila) through an idyllic landscape to its end. On the right, the unspoilt Froschbach valley greets you with the houses of the three estates belonging to the Bad Steben district of Hinter-Dürrnberg. The Fraischbach (Froschbach) still acts as a dividing line today. At the end of the cul-de-sac, we turn left and walk along pleasant paths past the third Froschbach estate through a charming landscape and a wooded area slightly uphill to the heights, where we are greeted by a fantastic view of the Döbraberg and its surroundings.

We walk past the first houses of Lippertsgrün, always downhill to the village center with the peace oak, village lime tree, village fountain and the two former school buildings. In Straßdorfer Straße, we turn left at the orchard meadow towards the church, walk around the cemetery and descend via the Lippertsbachgrund and the charming, narrow valley of the Höllgrundbach stream on two footbridges over the Grund and Frankenwaldbach streams into the forest.

Our hiking trail turns slightly to the right and leads us slightly uphill on natural forest paths to a forest road. It takes us uphill to the B 173. We cross the busy main road very carefully, walk through a small wood on a path in a straight main direction and reach the start of the Schlagberg at the barely recognizable old B 173. We follow the old road uphill to the Schlag district of the town of Schwarzenbach a.Wald with the once popular and now empty Schlag restaurant.

We turn left in front of the nursery and follow the road "Am alten Gericht" to the Catholic church on the outskirts of Schwarzenbach a.Wald. We walk past the leisure center to Walter-Münch-Straße and continue along the road in the direction of Döbra over the former railroad crossing and then keep right into Josef-Witt-Straße. Together with other hiking trails, we reach the end of the village and turn right into the forest before entering Kleindöbra and then along increasingly steep forest paths to the summit of the Döbraberg with the more than 100-year-old Prinz-Luitpold-Turm (1902) with its beautiful (almost) panoramic view.

On the summit, we walk eastwards along a pleasant forest path, past the site of the radar facility and then down a cul-de-sac to Döbra, which is closed to public traffic. At the edge of the forest and by the water basin, we enjoy the wonderful view of the Vogtland, Hofer Land and the Fichtelgebirge. Before the first house, we turn diagonally left into the old Nailaer Straße. We follow it, leaving the Panoramaweg at a fork to the right downhill to the new district road. Here you can enjoy another impressive panoramic view from Schwarzenbach over Straßdorf to Naila and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

We cross the district road and follow it a short distance to the right. Then we follow the cul-de-sac past the first house (Mitimino-Lamas) into the forest. We follow the cycle path as far as Poppengrün and continue through the forest, then in the open, past around half a dozen of the scattered houses in Döbrastöcken. On the way, we are accompanied by a beautiful view of the wooded landscape and the scattered properties of Döbrastöcken. At the beginning of Poppengrün, a district of Schwarzenbach a.Wald, lies the former white lime works (now a terrazzo plant).

We leave the cycle path after the quarry to the right and reach the road leading to Marlesreuth. We walk up the little-used road, cross the district road at the top and walk past the Marlesreuth sports field on a pleasant dirt track, enjoying the impressive panoramic view. When we can already see the houses, we turn right and soon come to the mountain road of Marlesreuth. If we walk down this side road, we return to our starting point. The weaving museum is also worth a visit. On the main road downhill, it is only a stone's throw back to our starting point.</p
