A large part of its extensive term is mountainous; we can find altitudes ranging from 730 m at the top of Sant Crist to 956 m at Sant Jaume, up to the maximum of 1,100 m at the Torreta de Mariola. There are a great number of springs, both in the urban center and in the territory, in beautiful places: the Serra de Mariola, the one of Santa Bàrbara, the one of la Coveta, and the one of Ballester; two rivers also originate here: the Clarià and the Vinalopó. But the most characteristic feature of its landscape is found in the Serra de Mariola, with its great variety of aromatic and medicinal plants.
