The church of Sant Serni de Coborriu is located in the population entity of Coborriu de Bellver, belonging to the municipality of Bellver de Cerdaña in the region of Baja Cerdaña.
It is documented at the end of the 10th century in the act of consecration of the cathedral of Santa María de Urgel. The church was consecrated under the patronage of Sant Serni by the bishop of Urgel, Pere Berenguer, in the year 1137, who nine years later made the act of Dotalía, establishing it as the head parish and endowing it with the church of Vilavedra. Due to a plague of the bubonic plague, this population was completely lost. In the year 1198 it was looted by the Cathars who took three books, the parish priest's clothes, and all the ornaments.
