The San Vicente Castle, also known as the King's Castle, is located in the Old Town of San Vicente de la Barquera. It is a Cultural Heritage Site of Cantabria, classified as a Monument. An Agreement from October 28, 2002, made public the declaration of Cultural Heritage Site by ministry of law, with the category of Monument, of the San Vicente Castle of La Barquera, by virtue of what is established in the Second Additional Provision of Law 16/1985, of June 25, on Spanish Historical Heritage, by which the assets referred to in the Decree of April 22, 1949, on the protection of Spanish castles, are considered of Cultural Interest.
