The Dueso Penal is an old and legendary prison and penitentiary colony in Spain, still in operation, located by the sea, in the eponymous neighborhood of the city of Santoña, formerly in the province of Santander, and today in the Community of Cantabria. It was inaugurated in 1907, making use of the buildings of the barracks and the Dueso Square that already existed, and in the face of the opposition from the Catalans to the transfer of prisoners from Africa to the prison of Figueres.
