It was one of the three squares that gave rise to the city of Albacete, located at the three highest points of the Manchegan city, where two fortresses were built. Situated on an ancient hill, at a higher elevation compared to its surroundings, it is pedestrian and is accessed via staircases and ramps. It houses the southern façade of the Cathedral of San Juan de Albacete and the monument of the Virgen de los Llanos. It is named in honor of the Virgen de los Llanos, the patroness of the city.
