The Church of San Francisco and San Eulogio belongs to the so-called Fernandinian Churches , as it was founded in the 13th century by the Castilian king Ferdinand III.
Its original name was the Monastery of San Pedro el Real and it was administered by the Franciscan Order, hence its current name.
The church's extensive rebuilding in the 18th century changed its medieval appearance to a Baroque one, and it holds an important collection of paintings by Cordovan artists of the 18th century.
The cloister consists of two storeys with arcades , with two arches on the upper floor corresponding to one on the lower floor. The arches are semicircular and rest on columns with Tuscan capitals. Another reminder of its former role as a monastery is the presence of a compass, ie a space preceding the church.
