The Walls of San Carlos de Cádiz is a semi-fortress built in the late 18th century as part of an ambitious plan to renovate the area's port facilities and buildings.
Already in the middle of the 16th century the construction of one of the three bulwarks to defend the port , the so-called Sant Felip bulwark, which was commissioned in 1560, was considered.
With the increase in sea traffic, a renovation of the area began in 1765, which finally gave the whole its current appearance.
