The Monument to Emilio Castelar, work of the sculptor Eduardo Barrón, is located in the center of the former Plaza de Castelar, now Plaza de la Candelaria.
It honors Emilio Castelar from Cádiz, born on September 7th, 1832 at number 1 in the same square. He was an eloquent politician.
The statue consists of a square base with a stone plinth and the statue on it, which represents the moment of a speech . It was inaugurated on October 5, 1906 and Segismundo Moret attended the event.
