This replica 1:50 (about 2 meters high) was a gift from the city of Brussels to the urban community of Seville on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition held in the Andalusian city in 1992 .
The monument was not removed after the event and still adorns the bus station in Plaza de Armas.
The original Atomium was designed and built for the Brussels World Exhibition in 1958 and is a cross between sculpture and architecture. The monument, which represents an iron crystal (with 9 atoms) enlarged 165 billion times, has become the symbol of Brussels and Belgium over time with its unique silhouette.
