In 1909, the celebration of a Spanish-American exhibition was proposed in the city of Seville. 1 Portugal's participation from November 1922 led to the exhibition being renamed Ibero-American.
The architects Carlos and Guillermo Rebello de Andrade designed this building. It represents the historicist neo-Baroque aesthetic of the period, with a large roof reminiscent of the Royal Palace in Sintra .
In addition to this pavilion, the complex had four other outbuildings dedicated to cultural exhibitions, commercial exhibitions, an auditorium and port wines. It is now the Portuguese consulate.
