Barr owes its wealth to its woods, vineyards, and ever-increasing tourism. Like Obernai, Barr, at the foot of the Kirchberg and Altenberg hills, is located on the 180 km long Alsace Wine Route, which connects Marlenheim in the north to Thann in the south. Barr is the wine center of the Bas-Rhin; the famous Grand Cru of Kirchberg is produced there. Also take a look at the Town Hall square. The Renaissance town hall from the 16th century and the timber-framed houses, such as the Auberge Le Brochet from the 16th century, have managed to preserve their authentic character.
