In the heart of the city, in a Renaissance mansion, the Au fil du papier municipal museum is the only one in France to present such a substantial collection of lacquered papier-mâché objects.
From snuffboxes to Second Empire living rooms, the objects on display were produced in Europe in the 19th century.
The museum also recounts the history of the town of Pont-à-Mousson: its medieval origins around the bridge over the Moselle, the creation of the first university in Lorraine in the 16th century, the life of the Grand Marshal of the Palais Duroc, the history of the Adt family and the papier-mâché industry in Pont-à-Mousson, the foundries (Pont-à-Mousson SA) and the Imagerie Mussipontaine.
