The Pyrenean Museum of Lourdes is a museum dedicated to the Pyrenees in all their aspects, installed since 1921 in the fortified castle of Lourdes.
The fortified castle is located in a strategic position to command the 7 valleys of the Lavedan. Its origin is very ancient, since it was a site of Roman occupation, and legend tells of a siege by Charlemagne, but the oldest apparent remains are the foundations, dating back to the eleventh and twelfth centuries. Reinforced in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, where the massive keep was erected. The development continued from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries. The castle is classified as a Historic Monument.
