Autingues is a municipality in the French department of Pas-de-Calais and has 296 inhabitants. The place is part of the arrondissement of Calais. The place name has Old Dutch origins. The oldest mention is from around 1200 as Hauthinghem. It is a compound, where the first element is a derivative of a personal name + the descent suffix -ing + -heem. The meaning of the place name is then: 'dwelling, residence of the people of X'. The current French place name is a phonetic imitation of this.
