This Cistercian abbey, originally named "Clara Vallis", was founded by Saint-Bernard in 1134 in the heart of the Vauclair forest. Spared during the French Revolution, the building was severely damaged during the fighting in the First World War. Today, only the ruins of the abbey remain, and a medicinal plant garden has been created on the site of the former apothecary.
During the summer months, the Salle du Mille Clubs hosts numerous exhibitions, which are periodically updated...
And for the past two years, the brand-new Tourist Pavilion has been open at the entrance to the site, welcoming visitors with a reception and interpretation area (associated with a restaurant, the Guinguette de Vauclair).
