In the Carthusian monastery of Campmol stood a masterpiece of sculpture, created by Claus Sluter. It was known as the Moses Well (1395). According to some sources, Jan van Eyck is said to have seen this work here. The sculpture displayed a great realism. The sandstone group depicts 4 prophets carrying a cross above a spring. The monastery where it stood was founded by the Duke of Burgundy.
