The hypocaust is a heating system that was used in the Gallo-Roman baths located in a cellar of the rue Saint Maur in Bavay, the former capital of the Nervian Kingdom. This heating installation dates back to the 1st century AD and was discovered in 1953 by priest Henri BIevelet.
